Proto No.3 Test Report

From the belly to the butt section, Proto No.3, which incorporates a newly adopted material, maintains the crisp, high-modulus response as intended during casting and lure operation.
At the same time, when a fish is hooked and the rod is bent under load, the load transitions smoothly throughout the entire blank, resulting in a highly refined fight balance.

What was particularly impressive were the clear improvements in:

  • Follow-through during head shakes

  • Hook-holding performance when the hook penetration is shallow

Both points showed a noticeable level of improvement.

While retaining the solid core strength expected of an MH-class rod in the butt section, Proto No.3 allows anglers to stop fish in areas with heavy structure, and absorb their power in open water.
This ability to switch fighting styles according to the situation is realized at a high level in this prototype.

By redesigning the blank around the new material, sensitivity to current has further improved compared to Proto No.2.
Changes in current seams, reverse flows, and water pressure are transmitted more clearly, making it easier to visualize where and how the lure is positioned in the flow.

Exactly as intended, Proto No.3 achieves a high-level performance focused on inducing bites, and clearly defines the final image of the Stiletto 95.

With this prototype, the overall direction of the Stiletto 95 blank design has been largely established.
From this point onward, development moves into the final refinement stage, including guide setting and other fine adjustments.

High-modulus rods are often associated with being stiff and difficult to bend.
In Proto No.3, these characteristics were thoroughly reexamined through the use of the new material.

The blank is designed to follow instantaneous loads by bending naturally, while also maintaining fast recovery speed.
As a result, the rod delivers lively lure action that takes advantage of its stiffness, accurate lure tracing, quick response from detecting subtle pre-bites to hook-setting, and during both fighting and casting, a seabass-specific action that bends momentarily under load while retaining the characteristics of a high-modulus blank.

With the introduction of this latest carbon material—highly compatible with seabass fishing—the development of the Stiletto series has taken a significant step forward.

With the core model of the Stiletto series now defined, development of the situation-specific Stiletto 100 has also begun in earnest, in parallel with testing of Proto No.3.
From here, adjustments will proceed with clearly separated roles for the 95 and 100 models.
