SilverStream Stiletto Development Story — Vol.1
Starting today, we will be sharing the development story of the Stiletto series in several installments.
To understand the upcoming 95 Stiletto and 100 Stiletto models scheduled for release in 2026, we must first revisit the core concept behind the original Stiletto.
■ How the Series Began — The Concept
Even the most experienced anglers have moments when they think,
“I should have caught that bite faster…”
Is it possible to integrate reaction and rod control more seamlessly,
so those subtle short bites can be brought to hook-up with certainty?
This question became the starting point for the Stiletto project.
The SilverStream Stiletto series was born in 2019 with the 81 Stiletto, a high-speed model built with ultra-high-modulus carbon. Its purpose was simple: reduce the time lag between the signals sensed by the rod and the angler’s reaction to nearly zero.
The name “Stiletto” traces back to the slender medieval stiletto knife of Europe—
a weapon designed to pierce the gaps of armor with precision,
known for its nimble footwork and pinpoint penetration.
By carrying that philosophy into rod design, we developed a tool that focuses solely on enabling the angler to make the fish bite.
With precise casting, crisp operability, and extraordinary sensitivity as its weapons, the Stiletto series embodies an unwavering concept.
■ Development Episode: 95 Stiletto
The new 95 Stiletto, set for addition in 2026, began with Prototype No.1 in 2020.
It was envisioned as an ultra-sensitive, mid-length seabass model that could read subtle changes in current—a natural evolution beyond the extremely high operability and sensitivity of the 81 Stiletto.
The 95 Stiletto was developed as a highly versatile model, equipped with a refined tip section specialized for “flow sensitivity,” allowing the angler to interpret shifting water pressure and patterns throughout all seasons.
● Prototype No.1 — Test Report
Strengths
-
The properties of the ultra-high-modulus material were effectively brought out, resulting in a blank with excellent tension, crispness, and sensitivity.
-
Power was equivalent to an MH class, securing sufficient strength for large seabass.
Issues Identified
-
The tip-to-belly section was slightly too firm, causing it to “bounce off” bites and reducing hook-up rates on smaller seabass.
-
The release point during casting was narrow, making it sensitive to lure shape and weight—especially when using lightweight lures.
● Prototype No.2 — Test Report
Improvements Made
-
To solve the narrow casting release point observed in No.1, the blank was recalibrated to better load even lightweight lures.
→ Lures around 10–15g now load more naturally, stabilizing casting feel and reducing flight variability. -
The stiffness of the tip-to-belly section was redesigned to increase follow-through.
→ Hook-up rates improved, and subtle differences in underwater flow—such as current seams or reverse currents—became easier to detect.
From 2020 to 2022, multiple carbon layouts and winding patterns were tested to enhance strength while maintaining the hallmark ultra-high-modulus characteristics of sharp rebound and high sensitivity.
In the belly-to-butt section, various reinforcement patterns were prototyped, exploring how far we could push the balance between strength and sensitivity on a high level.
These refinements gradually clarified the direction of the 95 Stiletto.
With major improvements achieved in Prototype No.2, development moved beyond factory-based design and prototyping.
From 2023 onward, the process shifted into intensive on-water testing, allowing fine-tuning based on real fishing performance.
